Northamptonshire County Council choose Opus3
Under a competitive tender Northamptonshire County Council’s Planning department chose Opus3 as their preferred system for publishing and managing their LDF and planning policy maps and documents online. You can see their live site for the Minerals and Waste Development Plan here.
Shari Nelson, the MWDF Manager at Northamptonshire said:
Northamptonshire County Council’s (NCC) Planning Service has recently (December 2010) gone live with Opus 3 Online LDF Mapping. The hosted service provides for online public access to LDF documents linked to an interactive map (and vice versa).
NCC has used the interactive mapping component for the purpose of an electronic Proposals Map linking to policies within the LDF documents, and as a land use & planning constraints map. Positive feedback has been received from the public regarding its ease of use and increased access to information.
Staff within the Planning Service worked with the Global Mapping & Blue Fox (GM & BF) project team throughout the implementation of the project and found the GM & BF project team to be easy to communicate with. The service provided was customer focused and efficient. Where issues were encountered we were able to contact the GM & BF project team who were able to assist our staff, or took action to rectify the issue in a timely manner.
Opus 3 met all of the Councils requirements, and included other features and tools that were not required but are seen to add value to the end product (e.g. drawing tools) and deliver a better service to the public.
What is Anywhere Council?
Anywhere Council is the name we have given to our demonstration website. The website is a platform and a focal point for demonstrating our portfolio of hosted software services.
Anywhere Council will bring all our existing software products under one roof while the website also offers a branded and conceptualised showcase for highlighting what can be achieved using Drupal combined with our software in a corporate web setting.
November 2011: Bolsover choose our e-Consultation service
The e-Consultation system will be used for Site Specific and Area Based Allocations and DPDs and will replace the Council’s in-house system. Having a dedicated e-Consultation service has been proven to provide significant financial savings to Councils by freeing up time and resources through the use and application of dedicated software tools that render the consultation process less labour intensive and more efficient. Software as a Service delivers further savings by negating the need to configure and maintain the software in-house, allowing the Council to concentrate on delivering its services to the public. Everything is delivered through a standard web browser.
One of the Council’s key aims is to strengthen the way it engages with local people, to provide them with the opportunity and the means to contribute directly to shaping where they live. The Web offers an ideal platform upon which Bolsover Council can make their planning process more accessible, more open and more transparent. Our ongoing customer support services will help the Council in their efforts to deliver a successful LDF programme right through to Inspector stage whilst ensuring that the online public engagement process ensures they meet e-planning best practice targets.
